Day 1: FLIGHT FROM NAPLES TO MARIBOR AIRPORT, HOTEL ACCOMODATION
Direct flight from Naples to Maribor with departure at 16.20 and arrival in Slovenia at 17.55. Transport by bus to the centre of Maribor where we stay at the hotel Piramida ****. The hotel is close to the centre and the banks where the Lent Festival is taking place.
Day 2: FREE TIME IN MARIBOR and ARRIVAL IN LJUBLJANA
After breakfast, free time for a walk around the town. We recommend a wine tasting at the oldest grapevine in the world. In the early afternoon we continue on to Ljubljana, the capital city, with accommodation in a hotel in the centre, including breakfast.
Supplement for tasting at the ancient Maribor grapevine:
3rd, 4th day: LJUBLJANA
Breakfast and free day to visit the city. At first glance, Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, seems almost too good to be true. Tucked away against the sunken hillside of the city, the baroque buildings and folkloric paintings of the old town are like something out of a fairy tale. In fact, Ljubljana is part of the real world; industry and the arts thrive here, and commerce is booming, lovely and so easy on the foreign visitor, modern and sophisticated Ljubljana could be one of Europe's most pleasant cities. Ljubljana has many places to visit, whether it's the city's castle which offers stunning views of the area from its hilltop location, the museums and fine art galleries or savouring the local culture with good food and local drinks, particularly beer. The hill with Ljubljana Castle is located in the centre of the city and the narrow Ljubljanica River slowly circles around it. The old town is located below this hill on the banks of the Ljubljanica River. The centre of the town is Preseren Square with its 3 bridges, Tromostovje. From there walk along Stritarjeva street to reach the old Ljubljana and Ljubljana Castle. Walk along Copova street to reach Tivoli Park, a beautiful park, famous for its avenues, flower garden and lake. Inside the park is the International Center of Graphic Arts. But to really enjoy Ljubljana's walk along the banks of the Ljubljanica River in the evening, listen to the street music, sit in one of the many restaurants and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
Supplements for trips during these days for a minimum of and a maximum of:
Day 5: VISIT TO THE POSTUMIA CAVES AND ARRIVAL AT THE BATHS
Breakfast. Departure towards Postojna. Visit one of the biggest tourist attractions in Slovenia. A tour of the caves with an Italian guide and the peculiarities of this karstic phenomenon, where you can also travel by a small train, as they are so large. Afterwards, free time and optional lunch. Continuation to Rimske Terme in the Styria region. The location of Rimske Toplice is surrounded by the wooded slopes of the nearby mountains, providing shelter from the wind and summer heat and supporting a rich vegetation of exotic plants from around the world. These include giant sequoias, Canadian hemlocks, cypresses and Californian cedars. The healing power of natural springs was appreciated by the Romans. They enjoyed the benefits and healing power on the right bank of the Savinja River, where there are still thermal springs. Overnight stay and half board with use of the thermal pools and their entertainment programme.
